The last 3 years. . . Budget??

Budgeting for a trip around the world. . .

I guess i started to budget for my trip around the world around 3 years ago. The problem has been that life has got in the way, as it offten does. That does not mean that i have no been working towards this trip for the last 3 years of my life, of course i have. What i mean by this is that i have had to focus on other area’s of m life, mainly my work, to enable me to treavel around the world.

I do not want this series of posts to be a guide or a bible for anyone, there is a fantastic site called go back packing which ha a fantastic series of posts on planning/budgeting for a trip around the world. This blog is more, its a thought process for me, its one of the ways which i am plannng my trip.

How have the last 3 years contributed to my journey?

Working has been really hard, i needed to do it though. Beacuse I enjoyed my self far to much at university I needed to get my finnces straight. I also feel that three years on and at the tender age of 25 i will gain far more from travelling than i ever would have fresh out of uni. The reason for this is that i now have a much better understanding of what i want from travel.

Although I never wrote them down or thought about them in depth i had an idea of what my goals where.

Develop my career so when/if i return i can get a reasonable job
Save money – So i can travel around the world
Increase my salary so I can get there quicker

I would definatly recomend maping out what your goals it you need to save money. It was a big mistake of mine, only know am i realising the importance of doing this. Three years on an I realise tht if i had done this i would probably be on my way by now.

Where I am now . . .

Basicaly i have started this blog, have a look at my first thoughts on why i want to travel around the world. I am going to show you how i am planning my trip, as time goes by i hope to get input from other people planning their trip aroudn the world.

So what are my goals now, well I have a timeline of 1 year give or take. in that time this is what i want to achive: -

Completly dept free
Plan a trip to thialand, viatnam, Hong Kong, Australia, NZ (This list is by no means exsclusive and is subject to vast amounts of change)
Develop and use this blog t help me plan my trip
Have a departure date set in stone.

This is my plan, this is the beginings of my budget, this is the most imporant thing to me.
